DESIGNER: Adebayo Oke-Lawal

BRAND: Orange Culture

COUNTRY: NIGERIA

Adebayo Oke-Lawal launched the label Orange Culture in April 2011 and describes the brand as more of a “movement” than a clothing line, for the creative man who is “self aware , expressive, explorative, art-loving nomad[s].” The brand mixes avant-garde knits and bright colours, drawing on a mix of streetwear and traditional Nigerian silhouettes to create an aesthetic that is unique and fresh.

Oke-Lawal, who has been designing since the age of 10, previously produced womenswear options for Orange Culture, but the designer has since decided to focus on menswear. Combining classic and contemporary western silhouettes (like collared button-ups and lapel-less blazers) with African sensibilities, Oke-Lawal creates offerings for modern men who like a little flair, and of course: color. Orange Culture is a heady mixture of Nigerian inspired silhouettes, print fabrics and contemporary urban street wear.
