70’s AFRICA by Larry Jay Couture Is An Expression Of Love To His Parents

Larry Jay Couture is a fashion design brand from Ghana whose latest collection takes us back to the 1970’s fashion. Through looking at his parents photo albums Larry decided to make a fashion collection that is an expression of his love to his parents because he fell in love with their fashion sense and style that he saw in their photo albums. The 1970 Africa collection is timeless, minimal and takes inspirations from not only Europe and America but also from West Africa, namely 1970’s Nigeria, Mali and Senegal. Larry Jay used very soft cotton materials, silks, satin’s, lace and some spandex to really express the various looks of his parents back then, with a little added androgynous twist to some of the clothes. The woman female model’s head is covered because Larry’s mother was always covered in her photos. The accessories used for the shoot are absolutely amazing and they complement the collection very well and the deep and rich colours of the range make the collection stand out.
