Timid and reserved at first, one can later learn that this young creative does not lack strength and precision in his vision of fashion. During our very first meeting at the MoonLook Pop Store, in June 2015 Boulevard Beaumarchais, Rich Mnisi left us with a very strong first impression. In Paris for the first time to present his collection, we had the opportunity to quickly converse during a fashion event curated and hosted by Sarah Diouf.
Rich Mnisi, a young South African designer who recently graduated from LISOF, launched his eponymous brand in 2014. After only a few collections, he already ranks among the most promising designers of South Africa, with a signature that is consistent throughout the seasons. He recently launched a visual campaign titled CMYK ‘Characters in Media & Youth Kuns’, featuring South African influencers of the moment.
The silhouettes, which marry well and are personalised to mirror the personality of each influencer, are of great simplicity, extremely refined and elegant.
“For CMYK I worked with people whose creativity represents a new, very modern African aesthetic. I am close to each of them and their contribution accurately reflects the identity of the young people of South Africa today: creativity and entrepreneurial spirit. This series marks the beginning of a series that will explore current African culture, youth and personalities.
